DIVISION OF PROSPECTING OF HYDROCARBON DEPOSITS

Department of Geophysics for Drilling (SW)

Scope of activity:

  • three-dimensional visualization and analysis of the internal pore structure in rocks using X-ray microtomography (micro-CT);

  • determination of water saturation distribution of the pore space in rock and cement stone samples, using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR);

  • determination of qualitative and quantitative mineral composition of rock and the clay separate fraction on the basis of X-ray analysis;

  • determination of the content of natural radioactive elements uranium, thorium and potassium in rocks, drilling fluids and building materials; evaluation of electrical parameters of rocks (the pore structure factor and wettability);

  • determination of electrical resistivity of drilling fluids as a function of temperature;

  • evaluation of ultrasonic wave propagation velocity in rocks, cement stones and drilling fluids;

  • interpretation of geophysical profiles in the range of assessment of casing pipe cementation in wellbores;

  • defining drillability category of rock on the basis of the geophysical profiling in correlation with the physical-mechanical and elastic properties of drill cores.
